Summary

SnapGPT’s API became unavailable starting at 10:52 AM CST due to a DNS configuration failure that caused api.snapgpt.me to stop resolving correctly across multiple global regions. This resulted in API timeouts, SSL errors, and connection failures.

All SnapGPT products that rely on the API — including the Chrome and Firefox extensions — were affected.

The issue has been fully resolved as of 5:10 PM CST.

Impact

API requests failed globally for ~6 hours

Image and text analysis features were unavailable

Chrome/Firefox extensions could not communicate with the API

Some users saw SSL, connection, or timeout errors

No user data loss occurred

Resolution

A misconfiguration in DNS caused the API endpoint to become unreachable. We corrected the DNS records, restored proper SSL behavior for the API, and verified successful recovery from all monitoring locations. All services are now stable and operating normally.
